In this article, we think-with nots, knots, and (k)nots in the interstices of theory, methodology, pedagogy, and art. We define the (k)not as a bringing together of nots—openings toward creativity, mapping, and disruption—and knots—openings toward connection, entanglement, and speculative futures.
What does reading together produce? By taking up and sharing artefacts -- fragments of encounters, snapshots of artmaking, quotes from novels or poetry -- we dwell within the momentary becomings of reading together. We invite the reader to think with us about these artefacts and encounters and to make their own connections between theory, reading, and (academic) life.
This inquiry exists because of a necklace I made but could not explain. I picked up theory and poetry and set off on a journey to answer why, and what now. This paper invites you to join me—speaking poems about and into that chasm, and hearing strange replies that might be echoes, or new verses—as I make with and despite and because of the mystery.
